Living in this planet Earth, we are always competing against one another:

- For higher economy progress
- For higher standard of living
- For higher education level
- For better physical appearance
- For awards in the Olympic Games
- For championship in the World Cup

We (Human Beings) compete almost for everything in order to be ahead of everyone else.

But the ultimate question to ask yourself is who are you really competing with?
Are you competing to live up against your parent’s expectation? or Are you competing against your peers? or Are you competing against your opponent?

I believe the answer is Yourself.

You see the only person that can Change yourself is Not
your parents, your god, your siblings, your mentors or your friends.

It is You.

And only You can change yourself.

You set the benchmark of your life achievement. As long as you know that you have exceeded yourself in the area of your life i.e. wealth, people relationship, health & fitness, contribution etc you have succeeded.

Once you able to see and understand this, you will live a happier and more successful life.

Google Inc. a public listed US company with a market capitalization of US $167.66B is one of the largest listed company in the US Stock Market. His main earning revenue is advertising from internet search, social networking, video sharing and many others. The company is co-funded by 2 Stanford University Students Larry Page and Sergey Bin. His headquarter a.k.a Googleplex is located at California in the Silicon Valley. The company has a strong culture of Live, Work, Play & Give and I will explain to you why Google is voted the #1 company to work for in the America.

Live

Everyday, their employee a.k.a Googlers come to work very happy thinking of how to solve a problem, meeting highly talent people, sharing their ideas, playing at the game room, challenging themselves to stretch their limit and inspire them to change the world. Some of them even want to stay in their office after work cos they feel that it’s so much fun than going back home! Can you imagine that!!

There’s a rumor that there is a dude who has just joined Google and not able to find a flat so he stay at Googleplex for a month … “He lived a lot better than Tom Hanks in the Terminal. Meals are provided and couches are everywhere”

Work

Their working environment is casual, fun, challenging, inspiring and motivative. New employee are name “Nogglers” while more experience workers are called “Googlers”. The workplace of their employees are so individual & personal that reflect so much of their employees joys and commitment their jobs. You can even bring your pets to work and allow them to wander around the office!! Can you imagine that !!! wow !!!

Over the years, Google has grow stronger & stronger through introducing new & innovative products & services, acquisitions and partnerships. The company has a strong corporate emphasis on freedom, inspiration, environmentalism and philanthropy. Every year, it receive 1 million applications ! and there is about 3000 applicants per day! wow!!!

Play

It’s kinda of like campus-lifestyle working at Google. In fact, I think it’s better than university campus. There are free food, free drink, free candy everywhere. Facilities like Gym, Swimming Pools, Game Room, Volleyball beach, Childcare center, Hair Saloon, Free Laundry, Yoga and even massage service. Can you imagine that! wow!

There are lava lamps placing all over the corridors, whiteboards can be found at many places with all kind of written ideas with multiple languages to encourage creativity & respect for different nationalities of employees.

Working in such an environment is truly amazing. If I’m employed, I don’t think I feel like going home after work as well…

Today, I will like to discuss about organizing your website using sub-domain & sub-directory.

Let’s say you decide to host a website i.e. www.yourdomain.com

If you want to include pages like Home, About, Product, Service, Links, Contact, etc you can organize your website using sub-directory like this way:

www.yourdomain.com/home
www.yourdomain.com/about
www.yourdomain.com/product
www.yourdomain.com/service
www.yourdomain.com/links
www.yourdomain.com/contact

Sub-directory is normally used on lightweight or static page and if you going to host heavyweight & dynamic pages you can organize your website using Sub-domain for instance:

sales.yourdomain.com
finance.yourdomain.com
manpower.yourdomain.com
operation.yourdomain.com
it.yourdomain.com

There are several advantages of using sub-domain to manage your website:

1. Load Balancing: If a visitor enter your website (www.yourdomain.com) and if your website is experiencing extremely high traffic, a technique called load balancing can redirect the visitor request to another server (www2.yourdomain.com) which contain the same website information.

2. Scalability: If your primary server is unable to handle such high volume of traffic, you can migrate the sub-domain together with all the associated files to another dedicated server easily & hassle-free.

3. Free Registration: You do not need to register your sub-domain with a registrar. Sub-domain feature is usually included in the web-host.

As far as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is concern, both sub-directory & sub-domain achieve approximately the same results.
